Macworld Conference & Expo Boston 2005: Podcasting For The Masses - Audio Hardware and Software
To create a podcast, you obviously have to get sound into your Mac and have the ability to edit it. While some Macs come with built-in microphones, using a superior external microphone is almost required to deliver a quality program.
If your Mac has an audio in port, you can use that, or use a USB input device for even higher quality. Devices we recommend include:
Audio Input Hardware
Sound Recording & Editing Software
This is hardly a comprehensive list; if the program can record, edit or manipulate sound, odds are it can be put to use creating a podcast.
Mixers
If you plan on having multiple audio inputs for your podcast (two microphones for interviews, for example), you're going to need a way to put them together. There are a wide variety of mixers out there; these are two good ones to start with.
Mobile Recording
If you are ready to take your show on the road, do "sound seeing" tours, or just get tired of lugging the PowerBook, check out the podcaster's mobile recording device of choice.
