Macworld Conference & Expo - San Francisco 2007:
User Group University
The eighth User Group University has been announced for January 2007 in San Francisco, in conjunction with Macworld Expo 2007.
Billed as, "...the premier leadership conference for Apple User Group officers," the event is scheduled for January 8 from 12:05 PM - 7:30 PM. Registration is open.
The keynote address will be delivered by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
This year's event will include a "dream team" session with three MacNotables panelists, Christopher Breen, Senior Editor at Macworld magazine, Adam Engst of TidBITS and Take Control, and Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus, wordsmith, raconteur, and columnist for the Houston Chronicle and The Mac Observer.
As with last year's UGU, the team will take questions from the audience and give their unique perspectives on where user groups are going.
Also scheduled to appear is Terry White of MacGroup Detroit. Terry will provide his insights on moving user groups into the 21st century.
Other sessions will include:
- A vendor relationship session by Tom Piper, including presentations from, "three representative vendors about their user groups experiences, relationship preferences, and recommended communication methods." The session will include a Q&A session.
- "Beyond the Meeting: Giving Back to your Community" by Rick Ortiz and Pat Fauquet. This session, "will explore a community involvement model many user groups are participating in: Mac Recycling, Reuse, and eWaste."
Until November 17, 2006 you can take advantage of early bird registration at a cost of $39.95 per person, a $10 increase over last year. After that, the price goes up to $44.95 per person, or pay $50 for walk-in registration the day of the event. (Note: There will be no walk-up registration available if the event is sold out.)
