Macworld Conference & Expo - San Francisco 2005: User Group Lounge
Room 252-256, West Mezzanine, South Hall
The User Group Lounge (UGL), the place to get up close and personal with the people who make the Macintosh community exciting and dynamic. A diverse roster of well-known columnists, authors, magazine publishers, community leaders and Macintosh personalities meet with Mac enthusiasts in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. This is your chance to get to know the decision makers on a first-name basis. While there, locate your local Macintosh user group and find out why you should be involved.
The UGL will be located in Room 252-256, West Mezzanine in the South Hall, one level above the show floor. The Lounge will be open during show floor hours, and will feature a wide variety of events and speakers. Please check the schedule below on a regular basis.
The room will be hosted by volunteers from the user group community. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

With more than 15,000 members in the United States and 51 other countries, the AppleWorks Users Group (AWUG) is the world's largest computer user organization. AWUG publishes the AppleWorks Journal and provides other support services for AppleWorks.
Warren Williams, the President of the AppleWorks Users Group, is a Professor Emeritus of Educational Technology at Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Williams has written more than 500 articles published in psychological journals and technology magazines and newsletters.
Cathleen Merritt, the Director of the AppleWorks Users Group, holds Masters degrees in Education and Educational Technology. Ms. Merritt, who manages AWUG's daily operations, has published more than 350 articles in educational technology magazines and newsletters.

Adam Engst

Adam C. Engst is the publisher of TidBITS, one of the oldest and largest Internet-based newsletters, distributed weekly to hundreds of thousands of readers. He has written and co-authored numerous Internet books, including the best-selling Internet Starter Kit series and, most recently, iPhoto 2 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide and The Wireless Networking Starter Kit, Second Edition. He has also written for many magazines, including Macworld, where he is currently a Contributing Editor. Scott Knaster has been writing about Macs for as long as there have been Macs. Scott's book How To Write Macintosh Software was required reading for Mac programmers for more than a decade, and his Macintosh Programming Secrets remains a cult classic. Scott's experience ranges from writing developer books for General Magic to working on award-winning Mac software for Microsoft. Scott's books have been translated into several languages, including Japanese and Pascal. Scott's latest book is Hacking iPod + iTunes. Scott has every issue of Mad magazine, which explains a lot about him.

Peter is senior editor for MacCentral, the popular online Macintosh news site, where he writes, edits and posts a lot of the info that hordes of Mac users around the world depend on to get their daily Mac news fix. Cohen writes the Game Room column for Macworld magazine, and he's also a weekly guest on Your Mac Life, the Internet radio show, where talks about the latest news from the Macintosh gaming front. Derrick's professional experience includes more than 20 years as a photojournalist, former managing editor of Web Review, and a speaker for O'Reilly, CMP, and IDG conferences. His "Mastering Digital Photography" tutorial will be a part of this year's Macworld SF conference. Derrick authored the Digital Photography Pocket Guide, 2nd Edition and the Digital Video Pocket Guide (O'Reilly), and coauthored iPhoto 2: the Missing Manual (O'Reilly/Pogue Press).
He also manages his online photo business, Story Photography, which specializes in digital journalism and special events.
